Golden Age

1937-1942

In 1937, Walt Disney and his team of animators released their first ever full-length animated feature film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

From that point on, the Disney Studios endeavoured to show just how versatile and innovative the medium of animation could be to the film industry. Walt also wanted to prove that animated movies were just as worthy of praise and honours as live-action films.

Despite difficulties that stemmed from the outbreak of World War II, and the Animators’ Strike of 1941, Walt Disney and the Disney Studios released five movies in this “Golden Age” of Disney Animation that were visually impressive and pushed the boundaries of story-telling, although some were not hugely successful at the time.

Their time would come though. Throughout the decades since the release of these movies, they are still classed as Walt Disney’s best.
