Post-Renaissance Era

2000-2009

The 2000s were another difficult decade for Disney Animation.

As they decided to move away from fairy tales and musicals, and instead refocus on telling stories of adventure, Disney struggled to find their audience again, made even worse by strong competition from the likes of Pixar and DreamWorks in particular, who were making comical movies with computer-generated imagery.

Disney Animation tried to follow the example of their competitors with their own CG non-musical films, abandoning their 2D animation origins, but for the most part, it didn’t work out quite as they’d hoped.
