Non-Disney Animated Movies

I don’t know how many people find this annoying, but there are too many people in this world who see that a movie is animated and automatically deduce it must have been made by Disney, despite many of these not being made by Disney and the company having absolutely no input in them.

Two examples of this that particularly annoy me are Thumbelina (1994) and Anastasia (1997). Due to their fairy-tale musical format, they have always been wrongly attributed to Disney since they were released. They were in fact created by Don Bluth, who had left Disney Animation quite abruptly in 1980 and made his own movies after that, keeping The Walt Disney Company on their toes. Therefore, I refuse to class these as “Disney” still to this day, even though they were owned by 20th Century Fox, a studio that Disney now owns, and are therefore on Disney+.

Many animation companies exist in the entertainment industry, not just Disney and Pixar. It’s time some of these got the recognition they deserve for their own additions to the wonderful world of animation.

Please note that this page is not being updated as frequently as other pages such as Pixar Movies and Disney Channel Original Movies, two categories of film that I’m currently spending more time on. There is also not a specific list for Non-Disney Animated Movies, so if there is a particular movie you would like to read a review on, feel free to contact me via my social media. Links are below.
