Renaissance Era

1989-1999

The “Disney Renaissance” is known for giving the world “the cream of the crop” from Disney Animation.

Although the peak of the Renaissance came in 1994 with The Lion King, with the odd low point of The Rescuers Down Under in 1990, the rest of the films in this decade saw promising results. Children of the 80s and 90s particularly love this era of Disney movie, with each one having its own collection of fans.

The “Disney Renaissance” movies cemented the favoured Disney format of the traditionally animated fairy-tale musical, a format that has been rejuvenated and modernised in recent years, although use of new CG technologies were being more frequently used throughout the time period.
