2010-2019
Some consider the “Revival Era” to really start with The Princess and the Frog, Disney’s much-anticipated return to the 2D fairy-tale musical. As much as I like The Princess and the Frog, I class Tangled as the start of this era.
This is partly down to the fact that The Princess and the Frog received similar box-office results to the other movies of the “Post-Renaissance”, whereas Tangled really showed that the public were falling back in love with Disney Animation.
The other reason is that Tangled commenced Disney Animation’s full commitment to making computer-animated movies – with the only exception being 2011’s Winnie the Pooh.
The 2010s saw Disney release hit after hit, without even having to commit to the musical or fairy tale route.
