Silver Age

1950-1967

As the world began to settle down post-war, Walt Disney needed a big financially successful film, in order to fund not just the Animation Department, but also his other projects, like live-action movies, television programmes, and of course, Disneyland.

Walt’s attentions were diverted elsewhere throughout this time period, so he had to put his faith in his story men and animators. They continued to create, develop, and release new feature-length films but audiences could tell Disney were losing some of their magic.

Walt knew he had to get his Animation Department back on track so he made sure to be fully involved in the final film of the “Silver Age”. The Jungle Book was the last animated film that Walt Disney guided through development. He died on 15th December 1966.
